Ben Winter

Senior Designer

he/him

As senior designer, Ben Winter leads research and prototyping on Civilla’s child welfare team. His design superpower is his curiosity—he’s fascinated by the intricacies of government systems and feels most at home working with and learning from the people who support them.

Ben came into public service after starting his career in public radio, where lifting up people’s voices across the airwaves helped him see he wanted to get even more involved in the community. After studying service design at the Parsons School of Design, Ben joined Parsons DESIS Lab, where he collaborated on several grant-funded design projects to support low-income New Yorkers.

He also served as a design fellow with the Lab at the US Office of Personnel Management, an experience designer at Gensler, and a faculty member at Parsons.

Ben earned an MFA in transdisciplinary design from Parsons and a BA in English from the University of Michigan.

Outside of work, funky flavors are the way to Ben’s heart. If it’s brewed, pickled, or fermented—count him in.
