Matt Roedel

Matt Roedel is the Ops Coordinator at Civilla, where he takes care of the details so his team can focus on doing their best work. He brings a deep sense of teamwork to the role, along with a genuine desire to pitch in wherever he's needed to help the group succeed.

Matt's path to operations wound through nearly a decade in hospitality, decades moving between corporate and nonprofit work, and a brief stint in independent film production. Hospitality shaped him most. It's where he built skills like empathy, perceptiveness, anticipation, efficiency, and planning, and where he learned how to form strong connections with people. Those lessons still guide how he works today: treating people with genuine consideration and respect, and staying alert to details others might miss.

Matt is energized by being part of a vibrant, supportive group of creatives, and by the chance to make a positive difference in people's lives, especially during hard or vulnerable moments. For him, operations work is about creating the conditions for people to do meaningful work and support each other along the way.

Outside of Civilla, Matt is utterly obsessed with food and cooking, which takes up more of his daily thinking than he'd like to admit. He also tends to collect hobbies: once something catches his interest, he wants to learn everything about it, though he burns out and moves on just as quickly.
